Aftercare instructions
1.)
1.) In two to four hours, wash the tattoo with a mild soap in Lukewarm water. Use basic fragrance free soap with some sort of antimicrobial quality to it (that's like dial hand soap).
2.)
Pat it dry with a clean towel, paper towel or let it air dry. Just emphasis on a clean thing and patting. Don't rub it. Don’t be using that towel you’ve been using to wipe your butt for a week.
3.)
Apply a thin layer of a&d ointment or aquaphor on the tattoo. Not too thick, not too thin. Thick enough so it doesn't crack open while its healing but thin enough so it doesn't attract dirt and bacteria or suffocate the tattoo. Other tattoo specific ointments or healing products are okay. Feel free to discuss with your artist.
4.)
After that- you're good for half the day! But for the next week, do that same routine of washing it and apply ointment 2x a day or anytime it gets dirty.
5.)
Don't scratch it. If it itches, slap it, pat it, or apply a bit more ointment- sometimes you itch because your skin is dry.
6.)
For the next 10 days, keep it out of the sun and out of weird water (so no swimming pools, Jacuzzis, or luxury bath bombing baths). You can shower and please do. You basically want to keep clean during the healing process
7.)
If you do happen to get an infection ( not my fault, not your fault- shit just happens. it's rare but still can happen), please just wash it and dry heal it- ie stop applying ointment. if the infection appears. Generally, your new tattoo will be red or warm the first few days. If it progresses, worsens or accelerates three to five days after getting the tattoo, you may have an infection and need to treat it accordingly. if the infection does not appear to get better or is spreading after not applying ointment- please see a doctor.
